I have a new Bold that is 5 days old. On the 3rd day I received a series of “uncaught exception” messages. I removed the battery and restarted the phone but several applications (e.g., phone and messaging) were missing. I started an online chat with AT&T technical where they had me remove the address book via Blackberry desktop. They then had me perform a master reset of the phone and then sent service books to reload my messaging accounts. Everything seemed normal but this lasted for less than 24 hours and now it has started again.
Today when it happened again it was sitting on my desk in front of me (dark screen) when it appeared to reset itself (the orange AT&T screen). I then received a message that the Bold was in “standby mode” and to press the mute button. Nothing I did could get it out of standby mode so I remove the battery. After the phone came started again I started to receive the series of "uncaught exception" messages again. Because I was sitting at my desk I was able to document each exception message I receive (please see below). Each message had only an “OK” button option.
Uncaught exception: Applicationregistry.waitfor(0x7491f7b6ae80681a)tim
Uncaught exception: Applicationregistry.waitfor(oxedae2c374e488c64)tim
Uncaught exception: ApplicationRegistry.waitfor(0x7491f7b6ae80681a)tim
Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Uncaught exception: ApplicationRegistry.waitfor(0x7491f7bae80681a)time
Uncaught exception: java/lang/NullPointerException"
Uncaught exception: java.lang.error"
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this problem? At this point I am thinking this is an issue with this particular phone and I should return it for a new one. Clearly daily master resets are not convenient.
Thank you for any help, ideas or thoughts. And my apologies for being long winded but I wanted to be thoroughin what was happening.
