Press and hold the left OR right Shift key and move your trackpad and it will select multiple pictures.
You can do almost all commands with multiple pictures selcted.
The downside is, the pictures need to be adjacent to each other.
NOTE: this works perfectly is OS6. I remeber it never worked in OS5

What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.5.0.x.xxx", What is yours?
See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/dow
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

I have Bold 9780 running OS 6. The option to select multiple files (mp3 or pics) by holding the shift key and scrolling the track pad doesnt seems to work. Is there any additional setting that I have to do ? As of now, I hve to connect to PC if I need to select multiple files.
Any help in this is highly appreciated.

Infact, I am able to select multiple pics but not mp3 or 3gp files. Multiple Pics can be selected by holding the shift key when you browse the pic through Media - Pictures option. Its (even Pics) not working when we browse it using Files under Application though.
