Hi ,

my BB 9000 is broken.
The menu looks very strange,
I cannot open the "Media",
I cannot see the "home" screen
I cannot change the Theme.
After some time it turns off and then the red indicator
is blinking.
If i remove the battery and then put it back the red
indicator is flashing again and it takes 3-4 restarts till it fit again.
This happened over night, I didn’t even use it.
The device is 2 weeks old.

Do you know about similar problems?
What should I do?
-Try to reflash the software? Or send it to suppler for
repair (should I delete the private data first?)

PS. BES service is still working.

Looks like you just need to reload the OS and everything should go back to normal. Although since it's less that 2 weeks old you're certainly entitled to exchange for a new one.

Hi jmrmb80,
I will try to re flash the device (reload OS), even it says it has the latest sw when I try the wireless update.

I also have an update, things get even worse today, now it is resetting on every 30 minutes,
with app error 200 or app error 523 or just freezes or just shuts down.

Try using BB Desktop Manager to update it and that should solve any updating issues.

Hi Rob,

do you have some other solutions exept this "reloading OS",
if I would answer to our customers in this way the we would quickly lose all of them.

Doing it from the Desktop Manager is the only other way to reload the OS. You can follow these steps to do so:

First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.7 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Next download and install the handheld software from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found in here:

Hi Jmrmb80,
I have installed the latest version of the BB DSw and installed the latest sw for BB 9000 already,
I even have net.rim plugging for eclipse etc. (I am coding for a living, the device we are talking about is not a dev phone)
problem is that device is now restarting so frequently that I do not mange to even backup it...
anyway I have called our service provider to make a complaint...
then I was shocked one more time, up to 45 days for repair, if this device was mine I would cancel the contract asp!

I see. So even after reloading the OS it still crashes? When going through the Application Loader did you choose the option to erase all data from the phone???

So rry to hear about the 45 day turn around. If it was under warranty or within the 30 dayI would think they would exchange it right away.
