I decided to try rebooting my phone but I'm still getting this message "uncaught exception,a browser content provider for Vid/3gg MIME type has already been registered with the browser"

I just don't understand that message, and I don't see ANY reference to it in the BlackBerry Knowledge Base.

So, now that you DO have a backup of the media card data... you have two choices...

  1. try another media card and see how it goes
  2. Follow the instructions below to format your media card and let's see if that obliterates that error message.

Article ID: KB10312 Unable to view the media card using the BlackBerry smartphone

Article ID: KB10527 Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted

Re: uncaught exception

Hi JSanders, well I've figured out that its definitely not the memory card that's the problem here,I'm so lost :-( I've tried the memory card in another phone and it works fine,I've formatted the card and the phone still isn't allowing me to view videos or music, but it opens pictures fine

Re: uncaught exception

seems to be software related, a software reload should resolve your issue

Re: uncaught exception

You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/

NOTE, perform a full backup of your device FIRST, using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

If you need further help with BBSAK or reloading the OS, please post back.

Re: uncaught exception

You must have access to a PC and the proper desktop software, BBSAK, and handheld device operating system downloaded and installed to that PC.

Re: uncaught exception

You're going to need three things on the PC

  1. Backup the BlackBerry first using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
  2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
  3. Run BBSAK and do the device wipe
Your device will reboot to error 507 (no operating system recognized on the device)
  4. Connect your Blackberry again and follow the reload procedure clicking on BBSAK
