Just to the right of the "profiles" icon a new icon appeared today............the number 1 and right beside it a white circle with a white arrow thro the centre (2 oclock to 8 oclock) and a small red star at 2 oclock. Checked user guide and every where else I could think of to no avail.

anyone have any ideas?

You have an upgraded application in App World, or App World has an update.

Go there to MyWorld for the upgrade, and look on your BlackBerry in the messages list for the notification and read it or clear it.

I have a new icon here on my BB CURVE 8330 its a little black Square and to the left top corner it has a red star any ideas?

Me too.  What is it? When I pull the battery, it disappears, but it eventually comes back.  Someone please HELP!

Figured it out-  it is a notification that you have a message in your bbm group(s).  If you are part of a Blackberry Group, go to it and choose "Group Updates."  It should be in there.  If you view it in "Recent Updates," it won't clear the notification.
