Re: unresponsive keys

Typical symptoms of moisture damage to the keyboard.

If it hasn't been properly dried out and there's circuit damage, you might could replace the keyboard.

Meanwhile, put it in a bag of dry white rice for a week, seven or more days, with the battery out and do not check it, leave it there.

After that period, insert the battery, boot up and see what happens.

Good luck.

Re: unresponsive keys

[ Edited ]

BB's in Dubai usually come with an Arabic/English keyboard for the local bb version,,,,,,Some imported ones(ATT, Verizon, etc) are English only keyboard, so the phone shops took out the English keyboard and replaced it with an Arabic/English keyboard, and back and forth, Maybe during that process it got mishandled and went bad.....

Im not sure what type of keyboard you have or the bb brand.......

I live in dubai....

Re: unresponsive keys

Where was the device purchased? Brand new from an authorized dealer, or third party seller, a street vendor?
There's more to this.

Re: unresponsive keys

it came unlocked with the arabic keyboard and was bought like that originally!!  It was bought from an authirized dealer, brand new and sealed. It was shipped to me ( New York ), and I got it just yesterday. My provider thought that it needed a software upgrade, which we did  but it still doesnt function. Does anybody know a Blackberry outlet, some place where i can have it repaired? thanks!!

Re: unresponsive keys

What's stamped on the phone?, Etisalat or Du?

In any case,

you can send it back to your husband so he can get you a replacement unit under warranty(shipping cost),

or,

fix it locally(parts and labor cost)

or,

get another bb bold phone for $80 with contract on Amazon and such,

Re: unresponsive keys

thanks, it's an unlocked phone so there is no label of Etisalat or Du. That would be my last resort, to send it back if i cannot have it repaired here in NY.

Re: unresponsive keys

If it was unlocked it is not "brand new sealed" since someone had to open it to unlock it.
And you'll find the true vendorID by going tobthe homescreen and press & hold down the alt key + right shift + H. What is it?
