When i use the internet on the Bold 9650 using wifi it seems very slow. I disconnected the mobile connection and left the wifi connected and the browser does not find the webpage. Does this mean that wifi is not working on the phone or does wifi only work with the mobile connection active? Even though it says its connected it seems like it is only using the mobile 3g connection. How can I test?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
KB13299 Use the Wi-Fi Diagnostics tool.
I suggest using the Advanced testing options.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have a 9550 and my WiFi only connection is very quick. I am on my mobile but will provide more info in about an hour. OK?
You are changing both the browser configuration to hotspot and general properties under options> browser to hotspot, right?
Thanks,

This should give you points to check:
KB24611Firewall and connection requirements for access to the BlackBerry Infrastructure using Wi-Fi technology
KB13363Manually add a Wi-Fi network
KB13494How to connect to a home Wi-Fi network using a BlackBerry smartphone
KB20291Unable to receive data over the wireless network after leaving a Wi-Fi hotspot
KB13488Wi-Fi profile
KB14122Verify connectivity for BlackBerry data services over a Wi-Fi connection
I saved this for last, it's the most comprehensive document I know of.

Does BB os 5 support 802.11n? When I setup my wifi manually and select band type I only have an option for 802.11b/g. My router is a 802.11b/g/n draft 2.0. To experiment I went into my router and told it 802.11n only and I lost my wifi connection on my blackberry and on my laptop. Does this mean that my bold 9650 only supports 802.11b/g? Thanks

Hi sgesualdi!
Here is my Advanced WiFi diagnostic report.
Can you post the matching sections?
I believe my router supports B/G/N as well I need to check some settings.
Please post back with your carrier and if you have an active data plan (see link)

Here are my diagnostic settings. I have 54 Mbps which is consistent with 802.11g. I believe 802.11n has up to 300Mbps. I am wondering if the Bold or os 5 doesn't support 802.11n yet. Either way I couldn't connect to the internet tonight from the default browser or BOLT browser even though I was connected to wifi. I should have been in range. Was only downstairs and my laptop connects via wifi from there so I don't know why it wouldn't work. I pinged the router and it came back successful but no internet.
