wifi question...

If you purchase a Blackberry Bold for $599.99(full price) and use it on a Rogers account with no data plan or get Rogers to the block data, can you use your home wi-fi connection to use all the features on the Bold? In other words is a data plan really necessary if you are in a wi-fi area 80% of the time.

Re: wifi question...

I just came across to this on another forum:

In order to get the push e-mail and the blackberry messenger you need a blackberry data plan with your carrier. there are ways you can get instant messaging (msn, aim, etc) using wifi, and of course you can use the browser using wifi and check your gmail or whatever through the browser.

Can someone know how to use those instant messaging using wifi???

Re: wifi question...

Let me explain to you, if you don't have any data plan, you can't setup the email, you don't have access to blackberry messenger, and any blackberry applications that requires internet access.

You can surf the web by wifi, and check the email by web mails or webpages
