BlackBerry® Bold™

Hi All

Im new to the blackberry.. saw the Bold and had to try it out.  i installed Yahoo IM and tried to run it and got dialog box saying service not enabled for this handheld

I'm not sure what this means... my BIS is enabled and I'm able to surf, send txts and emails in gmail/outlook exchange website.

Your device wich software is?, is unbranded?, where are you and wich is your carrier?

sorry...bold is runnin latest 4.6 out of the box,  ATT.  im in charloitte, NC

i was bought from att so presumably locked

The problem is 100% you dont have the service books for IM on your device, call ATT customer service and ask for this, good luck.

service books?  i dont mind calling them but can someone explain what this is and why i dont have it ... is it a separate plan for att?

Its not a separate plan, its like a link that permits some communication between sany applications and Att

The other way , but not free is downloading a program from handango

With this you can use AIm, MSN, Yahoo, etc.

AIM and YAHOO do not work for Blackberry Bold.  We all have to wait.  There's no way around.  Patience.

As long as you have att you can go to wireless.att.com and go to the shop area.  go into applications for the bold and you will find an instant messaging program that is a free download.  This will allow you to do Yahoo messanger, AIM, and Windows Live.  I use it for Yahoo all the time now.
