Auto complete feature for texting

I have an 8310 and I'm wondering if someone can tell me if the "auto complete" feature works when sending a text message?  I previously had a motorola razor that would suggest words while I typed and I loved that!!  I see there is such a feature available on the blackberry but for the life of me can't figure out how to turn it on.  (I can find the "auto text" feature but that's working fine).  Thanks

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

Are you referring to "Auto Complete" of "Auto Text".  Which one of these do you have on your phone?

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

I have "auto text" which seems to correct misspelled words - that's no problem.  I'm wondering if the feature "auto complete" which suggests words as you begin typing is a feature that is available on the blackberry?  If so I haven't figured it out yet!!  Thanks for replying.

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

To the best of my knowledge, the auto complete feature is not available with the standard OS on the BB.  Maybe there is a 3rd party software package you can aquire.

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

thank you very much - that's what I was wondering.  (although I can't believe my much more advanced blackberry doesn't have a simple feature that my old but faithful RAZR had!!)  LOL  Thanks again!

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

The auto text corrects misspelled words.  You can also add your own abbreviations for whatever you want.  For example I type in fd, and firehouse is spelled out for me.

Re: Auto complete feature for texting

[ Edited ]

auto-complete is mainly useful for handheld devices that do not have a full keyboard. Like regular mobile phones.

  • For AutoComplete : You have T9 for most mobile phones, iTAP for Motorola Phones, and SureType for Blackberry Pearl.
  • You have an AutoText feature on Blackberry Curve
  • You have Spellcheck on Blackberry Curve.

For the rest, you have your thumb(s) :smileyhappy:

By the way, iTAP is clearly way less efficient than T9.

and SureType seems quite fine according to some people like this guy :
