504 - Gateway Timeout

Over the past week or so I've been periodically receiving an error using the browser trying to get to any site. I get the 504 - Gateway Timeout error after 10 or so seconds and sometimes when just starting the browser.

A battery pull/reset temporarily fixes the problem. Re-registering the host routing tables also fixes the problem temporarily. Both of these "fixes" work anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours.

Also, I'm not sure if there is any connection but the new Facebook v1.9 from RIM returns a LOT of 1502 errors as well as not delivering all notifications. Some, but does not return the majority. If that's a separate issue I'll post a new topic about that in the proper forum.

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

Have you noticed if this occurs while connected to WiFi, or when not connected to a WiFi router?

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

It happens when using the Mobile Network and with Wifi. I've tested both switching network preferences to "Mobile Network Only" and "Wifi Only".

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

Look at Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options > Data Services. Is that ON?

And at Network Selection Mode, what do you have chosen?

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

I have tried, Tmobile does not have a Wireless Update available.

Haha, I feel bad because I keep shooting you down. I greatly appreciate the help though. What else ya got for me?

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.

See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4

Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

The OS upgrade did solve a few unrelated issues. Though the problem seems to be service provider related. Disappeared for a couple days, and it just happened again for about an hours worth of time. Might not be a hardware/software issue after all. Smiley Happy

Re: 504 - Gateway Timeout

Sounds like it could be network related.
