My Curve 9370 freezes during the back-up phase of the update... Tried pulling the battery (re-booting) several times...

Please try completing the steps outlined in the following article on how to force the detection of the BlackBerry® smartphone using Application Loader to reload the device:

If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.

My service provider (Verizon) already replaced the phone under warranty...
But, thank you for taking the time anyway!
I'll definitely save it for future use.
