Hi,
My 8520 is fine for a day or so then it starts to access random things on it's own then hangs.
I've pulled the battery and it will start up, verify the security settings and go into the setup screen. At this point it becomes completely unresponsive. Pulling the battery and leaving it a week sometimes brings it back to life and it works fine for a day or so then it's starts having a mind of it's own again and hangs.
As an example yesterday I got it working fine, charged it overnight and set my alarm, this morning at 6.30 the alarm went of and the whole phone was unresponsive I had to pull the battery in the end.
I've replaced the trackpad, re-installed the OS, soft reset and hard reset.
Any ideas?

Can you explain about this accessing random things? Like what?
Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?

By random I mean, it will open messages or maybe facebook, it might access the picture library etc.
At first I thought it was a stuck keyboard or trackpad, but then that wouldn't explain it working for hours then all by itself with no interference from anyone start having a mind of it's own.
It's a fresh install of the os with no apps and no media so I'm guessing it's as free as it can be but I can't check cos it justs sits there at the setup screen not letting me do anything.

OH ok, I misread that. I thought you also said it would work fine a day then mess up.
Try starting your BlackBery in Safe Mode.
Can you?

OK that didn't work, looked like the keypad and trackpad were unresponsive.
I left it for a night without any battery, replaced the battery and it started working again. Installed facebook app and everything looked fine then it started behaving oddly again by itself, opened messages, created a new message then looked like the return key was stuck, pressing the escpae key or end call key did nothing.
Left it again without battery and voila working again, worked all day yesterday until my alarm went off this morning and once again the keypad and trackpad were unresponsive.
I'm beginning to think there's an issue with the motherboard as needs to be completely discharged before it will work again. If it was an issue with the keypad or trackpad then why does it work for a day then start mucking about??
Makes no sense to me.
