I don't think Changing Sim can do anything in this matter.First make sure at you got Blackberry Specific Data
Plan from your Carrier Vodacom . On right side of your Device's Homescreen before signal bars is it written
edge ? EDGE ? or GSM.

i have a blackberry curve 8520 and i am unable to download anything from the internet, it just fails. i have changed my sim card and still doesnt work so please someone help

At Options > Security > Information, anything on that screen?
