Adding an new number to existing contact

Hi, I was trying to add a new number to an exisitng contact in my address book from the call log. One of my contacts called and I saw the new number and wanted to add to her existing profile and I am not getting the option to add the number to an existing contact. All their is to add to address book and when u click on that option it goes to adding a new contact and I don't want that, I want to add to an exisiting contact.

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

Open menu over a record in your Call log.

Select from menu: "Copy 12345678" (12345678 - represents a phone number).

After that open your Address Book on the device, select a contact. Open menu and select "Edit".

Set the cursor on the right place, open menu and select "Paste".

Save and close screen.

That's it.

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

I love it! Thanks Tibilisoft for this short cut.  I have been using shift key and scrolling over copying, then goin to address book and finding name, edit and pasting - but I like that way too!!! You are great!!

And to our guest, WELCOME to the F:smileyhappy:RUms!

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

PS: Please don't tell me to copy and paste. That's a LAME work around and not a real solution.

Blackberry should be embarrassed at having such lame functionality.

Here's what the phone should do:

Lets say I've a contact John in my adds book # 323 333 3333

that's it.

Now John calls me from his work/desk phone 444 222 1111

I'm done with my call and I see 444 222 1111 in my call log.

I should be able to

Simply click on the name and have the option of either
a. add as new contact
b. Append or modify existing contact.

If I select option a. I enter a new name and I'm done

If I select option b. I should

I. be able to replace an existing number (with confirmation)
ii or insert the number into an empty phone field with no confirmation.

I find it unacceptable that a $500 phone cannot do this. All my old Nokias and Sonys have been able to do this for years

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

I could not agree more. The 7 + step "Work Around" is NOT a "Solution."

Maybe I find the BB so darn frustrating because I've used other PDAs that did not have as many issues as I find with the BB.

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

Agreed, I have duplicate entries spanning my address book, as I don't need to have to copy, browse contact, edit, scroll and paste a new number.

For text messages you cannot even click to copy the number, you have to highlight it.

This is my second BB, I am not going for a third.

Re: Adding an new number to existing contact

Hi, I am following up on this issue, as I was reminded of it, again, when trying to add a contact.

Does anybody know the proper channels we can go through? Thanks :smileyhappy:
