Could you please guide me on how i should delete/uninstall lotus notes email from my blackberry, i feel that would solve the problem.

It's not a "tab", it is just a line in the list.

So that "Address Book" line is not in the list?

Then your Address Book is deleted for some reason.

Connect to your PC and run the Desktop Software.

click on Applications and allow the software to update, which should re-add the Address Book.

so what your saying is, i update/reinstall my device software? But wouldnt that make me lose all my contacts and the remaining all the material in my phone completely?

Does updating\reinstalling lead to deletion of all the prior material? because when i click on it, it warns me to take a backup. And i cant back up the contacts because of the problem that i am facing with the address book.

when i go the "organizer" tab, just below the applications tab, it says "(not installed)" in the Address book check box. hence back up of contacts not happening.

Nope. You're confusing three things.
1. You've already stated you have no contacts on the device by seeing no address book data in the database sizes list.
2. You have no address book installed either.
3. the organizer tab is related to syncing your data to Outlook on your pc, not related to the backup & restore functions.

ok, the following is a recap of the problem i am facing:

Hi,

I have a blackberry curve 8520 with the OS 5...

my address book is blank, however when i type any alphabet to quick search contacts, i am able to access a Few contacts, Not All.

I tried taking a back up of the contacts, it keeps asking me to turn off the wireless sync: address book >options>wireless syn off.  that does not happen too. i deleted and undeleted the Desktop cical and sync options from the service book.

• I have pulled the battery for reset (a couple times) and i end up losing more contacts from my quick search.
• I have checked and unchecked all the filters
• The contact information does not show for SMS
• The contact information DOES show in the call log (and I can view their complete Contacts information from there) but when they call, the name does not appear, only the no. does!
• Email client linked is Lotus Notes
• the phone shows that i have 850 contacts, but my address book now shows one contacts no. 5 times. this is the only contact i see on my address book.

my contacts i believe are still in the phone, however i am unable to access most of them(the ones i stored recently)

Are you on a corporate BES email account?

I have the same problem. Problem is that YOu have a lot of blank entries. If you scroll down in your address book, you will see the names.

I don't know how to fix this either. If I don't figure this out soon. the only thing I have left is to wipe the device and reload the operating system.
