Alltel Device Upgrades

Is there any information on when the 4.5 or 4.6 upgrade will be available to Alltel customers. I called Alltel and they said Blackberry has to make it available to us on the Blackberry site.

Re: Alltel Device Upgrades

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

There is no word on when Alltel will post it as their own. It is actually up to Alltel to test and train their CSRs on the OS, first, and release it as they see fit.

Meanwhile, you can load another carriers version of the OS.

Re: Alltel Device Upgrades

I tried downloading the upgraded software but it doesn't upgrade the application version on my phone. Any suggestions?

Re: Alltel Device Upgrades

Hi to all,

I did the upgrade to my phone with some help from my o2 who at the time did not have the latest upgrade but now do. They do not seem to mind who uses the software or if you want to go to another company so you could download from there but when I spoke to one of their technical people they said to remove one file which something to do with using another companies system but I believe o2 are just using the plain RIM download. You do need to update the Desktop Manager at the same time and the latest version is the best. If I can give any help just reply to this and I'll get an email to check it.

Checked out the file to remove which is after you install to the computer but before installing to the phone and it's the vendor.xml
