I have an 8330 smartphone. When I attach a file to an email, I get the message " The attachment file may be reduced in size." After hitting the Ok, I'm directed to the /Media Card/BlackBerry/pictures/Camera directory. I'm not able to explore the entire media card. How do I get this message to go away and be able to explore the Media Card or Device Memory?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
What type of file are you trying to attach?
Thanks,

Bifocals,
I get the message " The attachment file may be reduced in size" immediately after hitting the "Attach File" menu selection. The problem is not with the file. The problem is that I am limited by the File Explorer as to what file I can attachment. I can only select files from the Media Card/BlackBerry/pictures/Camera directory
I hope it's only an Option selection, but which one.

at the top of your list of pictures you should get an UP option, if not press your menu key and you should get an UP option there which would bring you to the Blackberry folder, which you should get the other folders to choose from.
BTW there is no camera folder, you are in the pictures directory which gives you the option to jump to the camera by clicking on camera(its a shortcut)
if you were in the video folder you would have a shortcut to video recorder

There is no UP menu option. The menu selections are
View List
Open - open Camera
New Folder - creates new folder under pictures
Receive Using Bluetooth
Hide
Close

if you have DTM 4.7 installed you can perform a backup then a resettofactory
start- run- type
cmd
enter key
type
cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
enter key
type
loader.exe /resettofactory
after reboot, test whether you have an up option BEFORE you restore your backup file
then restore and test again

drizzt09,
The problem is much worse. I had our IT guy reset the smartphone to it's factory setting. Worked fine. I reloaded my application and the problem reappeared. We are sending it back. Thanks for your suggection. I will keep it for further reference.

if you restored your backup and that brought the problem back then its BB its your data
do another resettofactory then perform a selective restore
open DTM, go to backup/restore- advanced
top left click on file-open
find your backup, it will load on the left side
you current working BB will be on the right side
transfer ONLY the absolute important databases from the left to the right(address, cal, phone logs, messages, sms, tasks, memo)... dont do any that you dont know and dont do any OPTIONS ones
if you get a new device and restore your backup to the new one, you will have the same problem

I'm having the exact same issue in a 8300 simulator with 4.5.0 OS.
So i think it's by design, but how do i change it? i want to attach other file than an image.

After several resets of the smartphone with the same problem occuring, I concluded that there was something wrong with the device. I sent it back, received a replacement, loaded my application on the replacement and everything worked as expected.
