BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

Hello,

I changed my provider from Vodafone to 1&1 recently and since that I cannot create a new Blackberry E-Mail BIS account, means -> I cannot send or receive E-Mails on my BB. It worked with Vodafone OK.

The old account with Vodafone was deleted (checked and confirmed by Vodafone Service Desk).

When I try to create a new account with 1&1, the error message is "Your device is not registered with your service provider".

But it is registered, I received a registration SMS already with the new SIM card.

Does anybody know what the reason could be ?

The software on my BB Curve 8310 is 4.5.0.188. Can I install a newer version 5.0 on that device ?

Is the software a problem?

Thanks for any tip. Rgds, CR

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

What do you mean by device registration SMS.. is it the blackberry registration received under the messages folder??

Well, try doing an HRT (host routing request) & do a device reset (batter pull & insert back). Below KB article helps you on how to do the device registration. :smileyhappy:

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

i thought 1&1 was an internet service provider rather than a mobile phone carrier?

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

Hello, thanks.

I tried this already and -> received a SMS saying "device is registered with your service provider".

But I need to create a BB E-Mail Internet account, eg. https://1und1.blackberry.com

to register my phone to the Blackberry server for the E-Mail push service.
When I try to create this account with my PIN/IMEI numbers, the error says:

Your device is not registered with your provider. And so on ....

1&1 is also a mobile phone carrier and uses the Vodafone D2 network...

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

Have you tried setting your email account up via the email setup wizard on the phone itself?

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

I have software version 4.5.0.188 installed.

There is only 1 option: setting up a work account with BB Enterprise server or

Skip e-mail config.

There is no point to enter a private e-mail address account...

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

This normally indicates your account is provisioned for BES data only - have 1&1 confirmed that you are setup with a BIS Data plan (Blackberry Internet Service)?

Re: BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

Yes, 1&1 confirmed I have booked a BB Option (Data Plan), but still cannot create the BIS account.

I found out some more interesting things:

I have 3 BB 8310 with a T-Mobile brand on it and 1 BB 8310 with an O2 brand on it.

ALL 4 devices have the same software 4.5.0.188 installed (the latest available).

ALL 4 devices have NO simlock, means I can make calls and send/rec. SMS ok with 1&1.

I CAN create the BIS account with the O2-Brand BB 8310 and send/receive e-mails OK.

(but unofretunately is phone is defective and switches off after 5 minutes, so I cannot permanently use it).

I CANNOT create the BIS account with the 3 T-mobile branded BBs.

2 of them have been wiped and I installed them completely fresh.

ALL 4 Devices worked formerly ok with Vodafone and BIS.

I checked with T-Mobile and Vodafone, and they confirmed both, that there are no registrations of any of the devices with them. Accounts have been deleted.

Why do the 3 T-Mobile branded BBs not work via 1&1 for the BIS e-mail / Internet service account ?

What is different on the T-Mobile branded phones ? Do I need to install a patch / unlock code for BIS to work ?

Can I send a free request to Blackberry Support and if yes, what is their e-mail address ?

Thanks for any hint / advice / link /etc..
