Hello everyone.
I have a small problem that a lot of users seem to have with BB 8900. A Blackberry Maps application has been installed on my device (version 4.6.1), but the icon to start it up is missing. I have seen some posts regarding that problem but none of the proposed solutions seem to work, including reinstallation of the app (upon trying I get a message that Blackberry Maps is not compatible with the software I have installed). I have recently updated OS to 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108) so my soft is definately up-to date. I am clueless as to what to do now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Who is your carrier/mobile provider?
Do you have the BlackBerry Data Plan on your carrier account?

my carrier is Three mobile, but the phone itself is t-mobile branded. I do not have Blackberry Data Plan on my account, and I understand it would make use of BB Maps impossible without such plan, that is not my point however - I simply wanted to lauch that application to try some tricks with it. And without an icon to launch it, well...
Thanks for a quick reply JSanders btw, any other suggestions though?

I do understand your point.
BlackBerryMaps may be installed, but it is enabled via a Service Book pushed to your device by the carrier.
And without the Blackberry Data Plan, you won't get the Service Book.
And it does not do good tricks with data. Just a blank screen with horizontal lines indicating no data. ![]()

I understand. Thanks for explaining it to me.
Just one more question - do you happen to know if there are any applications which would use gps installed in my 8900 and would allow me to use a map, and preferably a navigation as well. Also, if usage of such application wouldn't require a data plan. Thing is, my friend is using a Nokia Nxx (can't remember the number) and is using a Garmin navigation software which works very well - and doesn't need any data plan at all. Connects directly "to" sattelites.

Looks like nobody actually understands what you want. I also only want to know where the icon is. Thats it. Used it two days ago and today i cant friggin find it. Of course at that time i definitely needed it since i was lost. Lemme know if you figure it out.
