Good Morning All
My battery is quite old and is losing charge quickly. I purchased a new one (with correct code number) via Amazon. It came up with the battery/red line symbol and wouldn't charge at all. I've had two replacements since then and each one has the same problem. Any ideas?

If you insert your original battery do you have the same issue or does your BlackBerry smartphone boot up?

While using BlackBerry accessories its always recommended that you use original accessories. Check the below image and use the any battery from the top two pic. Last (3rd) one is not an original accessories.
