I have a question: My Curve 8900 has this information in the About section; v5.0.0.900 (Bundle 1626) Platform 5.2.0.96, ¿Is this the latest Os for this model (carrier Militon Colombia) or is there a newer one?  I have seen a 5.0.0.1168 release but I am not sure which one is the latest or better for my Curve.

Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

This thread contains information about the latest OS for the 8900. However, our good friend Xandrex has been unable to update it lately. You can still use the information, but you will have to do some work. Scroll up to the most recent post from Xandrex listing the various carriers that support the 8900. Click on each one to pop open the download portal window for each one. Compare the versions that each carrier has released, until you find either a) the highest numbered one or b) one that you will be happy with.

Good luck!

Re: BlackBerry Curve 8900 : Official device software OS

Thanks for your fast reply! Now i see that I should have worded my question better. I am looking to upgrade the OS of my Curve 8900, since my BB has this info on the About section; "v5.0.0.900 (Bundle 1626), Platform 5.2.0.96", my question is: ¿The 5.0.0.1168 release is the latest OS release?  If I get the 5.0.0.1168 OS release in my Curve 8900, ¿will I be upgrading the OS comparing to the one is running on right now? ¿Or wil it be a downgrading of OS?

Sorry if I sound redundant, but the truth is, I cannot tell if my Curve has the latest OS or this 5.0.0.1168 OS release is what I am looking for to upgrade my BB.

Your help and expertise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

Re: BlackBerry Curve 8900 : Official device software OS

5.0.0.1168 is a "larger" number than 5.0.0.900, so it is therefore a newer OS than what you are presently running. You compare the "A" (Applications) component of the actual OS package filename against the "v" part of your "About" screen. As to if 5.0.0.1168 is the "latest", that would take your digging as per what I posted above.

Good luck!
