By the way, is there any option on Blackberry which notify us about any open wifi network.. ?

Suppose, i go to a Cafe and there's a wireless network.. and I don't know about it so wud my blackberry give me notification about open wifi network .. ?

I'm sorry if i'm asking these silly questions.. I'm a new blackberry user.

I used android and it has so easy operating system .. and I wanted something new and different =P

There are many many apps for BB...you should search in AppWorld (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/?) to see if any suit your needs...I've not needed an app as you describe, so I don't know if such exists or not. Then again, it's pretty much impossible for one human brain to contain all that is available!

Questions asked are never silly...it is only silly to not ask, for by not asking, one has no way of learning...and learning is what we are here to provide.

Cheers!

BB Protect is definitely a service that requires a data plan. It will function via WiFi, but requires an active and adequate data plan in order to work via any means. This I know for sure as well given the non-plan BB that I have.

There are many many services that will never function on your BB without an active adequate data plan. Email is also one that requires a proper data plan. BBM as well, if you wish to use that BB-proprietary messaging app. BBM Music, BB Mobile Conferencing, BB Traffic, BB Travel, and many other useful apps all require a proper data plan as they require access to and usage of servers hosted by RIM and the carriers...and such enhanced and proprietary services do not come for free.

Good luck!

Re: BUMP once again.

I've no clue to that problem, other than making sure that your WiFi internet firewall is wide open, not blocking anything at all (at least to test). Further, since your friends ISP is different from yours, then they may be the ones that are blocking something that prevents this from working for you. But, as you said, you rang them up and they were clueless.

Good luck!
