Blackberrry newbie

Hey guys, I've never owned a Blackberry before and I got my 9300 Curve today.  I was hoping someone could help me.

I can't seem to register an email address, as the only option it gives me is for the Enterprise Server and I would like to register my own personal email address.  How do I enable the option?  I've also added two of my friends who also have BB's to the BBMessenger but they aren't showing and if they add me I cannot see them, is this because my email hasn't been activated yet?

Sorry if these are basic questions but I'm really lost here.

Please use plain text.

No problems, the answer has been posted here in the Forums thousands of times.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?

You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.

So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

Good luck.
