Blackberry ID password change

I set up my BlackberryID when I originally bought the phone. Today I need to download and install an app and it asked for my ID. I remember my username but not the password and the email I originally used is tied to the unit. I don't seem to be able to change my password unless and untill I remember my old password, or change my email. I'm in a Catch 22 situation

Re: Blackberry ID password change

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

You are in a bit of a catch-22...but fortunately not complete one! When you say the email you used, I assume you mean one of the @carrier or @bb types of email accounts, that have no other access method to the email account. As such, due to security reasons, the password reset emails you can generate to reset your BB ID are not delivered to the BB...so that's the catch-22 you have. Fortunately, there is a workaround:

  • KB28111 Unable to reset BlackBerry ID password when using a BlackBerry hosted email address

You need to set up, via your carrier and (hopefully) their BIS website (from a PC/browser), auto-forwarding of your hosted email account to a different account that you can access from other than your BB. Then, you are positioned to receive the password reset email, and can process it to recover access to your BB ID. If you cannot access your carrier BIS website, then you should be able to ring them up and have them enter the auto-forward for you.

Good luck!
