Blackberry Unlocking Issues

[ Edited ]

I just purchased a Curve 9320 from a local provider digicel, I purchased an unlock code online and tried 7 times and it hasn't worked. I have 3 more tries before the phone is hardlocked. Can someone tell me if RIM can provide the unlock code for my handset? I have the MEP ID, my IMEI, and my PRD.

Please assist? I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks

Re: Blackberry Unlocking Issues

So i purchased a code from freethisberry.com and its the same as the code purchased initially. Which means that the code wasnt incorrect. Why wont the phone accept it?

Re: Blackberry Unlocking Issues

You're entering it wrong?

Or both vendors gave you the wrong code?

I only use the trusted vendor in my link below. Never had a bad code.

Re: Blackberry Unlocking Issues

I did use the vendor in your link below. The code is exactly the same and 3 different persons have entered the code. Is it possible that there is a problem with how the phone was locked to begin with? I noticed that the MEP ID for Digicel on most sites is 14896-005 however the ID on my phone is 14896-006. I am not sure if this may cause and error. is there anyother way to unlock a blackberry?

Re: Blackberry Unlocking Issues

You didn't say that, how was I to know?

There is no other way to unlock the device other than with the correct code.

********

After the ten attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.

* IF your device is in warranty, contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to RIM level customer support. I'll warn you that most carrier technical support people will first assume and think you are referring to a device security unlock, and you will need to convince them otherwise and explain clearly what you need. THEY will not be able to help you because the carriers themselves cannot unlock a device which has had the MEP code attempts depleted, and should (and you will need to ask) to have the case escalated to RIM level tech support.
* If your device is out of warranty, contact RIM direct. See the Contact Us information from the website: http://ca.blackberry.com/contact/ The options you want to select to speak to BlackBerry Customer Care are 3 (for inquiries, orders, billing, e-RMA etc) then 5 (e-RMA and Out of Warranty).

Are you positive you have a Digicel branded device?

On the homescreen, press and hold the ALT and SHIFT key and type an H

That will open the Help Me screen, what is the vendor ID on the device?

That is Digicel, sure enough.

I honestly don't know why the code won't enter. Have you inquired with one of your three vendors?
