Blackberry curve wifi problem-greyed out!! Urgent. :(

Hey so my sister used all my pasword attempts this morning and my phone then reset itself and wiped everything. I have tried setting up my wi fi again and it's not working now. The wifi sign at the top right is greyed out instead of being lighted up like it used to be earlier and in the manage connections, the wifi name is shown but instead of a green tick in the box, there's a white "-". I have tried a battery pull, unplugged and plugged the router again but it still doesn't light up or shows a green tick. My whatsapp is working and when I open the browser and access google through it, it works fine but the wi fi sign is grey and shows no green tick. Moreover, my blackberry messenger is not working either since this wiping. I added my friends and they didn't receive it, they added me and I didn't receive the request. Could it be because I have no credit and so couldn't buy the data plan this morning? But earlier, before the wiping off, it used to work fine with wi fi so what's wrong now? I really need help, I'm going away for a week tomorrow night so would like to solve it before going.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Y

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

For your WiFi settings, you should remove the WiFi configuration for your WAP and re-create it from scratch.

For your other things, this might be important:

If, by that, you mean "can I use fee-based services without paying for them?", then yes, certainly, that could be the problem. Everything else you described could be completely explained by the fact you have no paid data service on your BB now. But, nevertheless, try the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should probably talk to your mobile service provider about how to re-establish your connection to the paid services that are no longer working.

Good luck!
