I've never had any problems with my blackberry untill now. Every time I use Twitter, Facebook or the camera it just say 'Battery drained shutting down' no matter what level of charge it has. I'm have up dated all software and deleted then re installed apps. Was thinking of getting a new battery but will this help? 

This is causing great problems for me as i live away from home and my blackberry is my only way of contacting family.

Any sugestions?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

You have done several things to try and resolve this...here is perhaps more to try to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:

1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

what is OS bare bones? intall what? do what? 

Please can you explain in a way i can understand please

OK...here's a longer post...

At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

• C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
• C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.

You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:

In other words, when you are installing the OS (as per the "How to reload..." thread linked above) and have, during that process, the list of the OS and additional items, with tic boxes on the right, make sure that NONE of the boxes are selected for those you can control.

Well, I've given you a lot of information, and you've given me such limited feedback that I can't tell what you understand and what you don't understand. Let me see if I can simplify some of it, though the details will remain as above.

What I've suggested is that you load your OS cleanly, with no optional items at all, so that you can test if in such a condition the behavior you experience continues or is cured. If it is not cured, then you have to try a different OS. If it is cured, then you proceed to slowly re-add those optional things, so as to try and narrow down which one is causing the behavior.

I've given you the links and information necessary to find the various OS packages that are available for your BB.

I've given you instructions on how to install any BB OS to your BB.

So, with that simplification, where exactly are you stuck? I'd like to help, but when you give limited feedback, it's rather hard for me to figure out how to help.

Sorry i'm not very good with tecnical terms.

What is an OS? Is that what runs the the phone? 

And how do i go about downloading differnt 'OS' software? And how do i load it with anything else runnning? do you mean delete all apps?

Hmmm...then you honestly may be better off finding someone to pay to do all of this. It is highly technical, but I'm willing to continue trying to help you. Just do please be open, honest, and explicit...I can't read minds, and can only over time learn how deep to go in providing you with information.

Yes -- OS = Operating System. Every computing device has one, and it is what controls everything about the device. Additional apps are added on top of (or within, depending on your perspective) the OS, but the OS must exist first.

From the download portal, to which I already provided you a link. You download them to your PC, install them to your PC, and then use them, with your BB connected to your PC (via USB), to install them to the BB.

I didn't say "running"...rather, you want to install but leave out anything "optional". You do so exactly as I described above...when you get into the process, there will be a stage with a list of items it is offering to install, including the Core OS, some core apps, and even perhaps some additional apps. All of these will have tic boxes on the right side of that screen. For any tic boxes that you can control, you make sure it IS NOT checked, so that optional item is not installed as you proceed and install that OS to your BB.

No...that would be the reverse of what I am suggesting. I am suggesting installing the OS clean to your BB, ignoring everything that is presently on it. When you install, you leave off anything optional so as to test if the behavior continues.
