Re: CANNOT GET EMAIL ( & ringtone is pathetic)

Rest assured, you are not the only one confused.

I will try to go through Orange, but it does seem odd that a 'phone as well-known as a BB simply refuses to recognise a simple email address that has been in use for well over 10 years ....

Yes, but if something is wrong with the configuration at Orange and/or RIM for your BB, that could completely explain the whole thing. It's not that the BB is refusing anything...rather, as far as I can tell from what you've provided and what we've already attempted, it's that something is not right with this imperfect technology, and that needs to be fixed, and needs to be fixed by your service provider, since it is their system that may be improperly configured for the services you desire. If you are expecting all technology in the world to be perfect, I fear you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of disappointments...for all technology is designed, built, and operated by humans...and, in my experience, humans are far from perfect.

And that brings me to another thought...are you thinking perhaps that the BB has a full on-device email client like other devices? If so, that as well is inaccurate...BBs have no native and full on-device email client...rather, they have an interface to the BIS system, which is actually what handles email...and that BIS system is hosted by the carriers/RIM. Hence, if that system is where the misconfiguration is, then it's that system that is "refusing" you...not the BB itself...but the "refusal" is due to a misconfiguration, not anything sinister and intentionally trying to block your access.

Good luck!

Re: CANNOT GET EMAIL ( & ringtone is pathetic)

Oh I realsie that it is a technological screw-up, not anything deliberate, all right.
And by "BB" in this case, I was referring to my own toy, rather than the subset of RIM ....

I suspect that the fault lies in the BLackBerry software somewhere, rather than with Ornge.
But, as the law is congiured at present, Orange/EE are responsible, since their shop sold me the BB & the Sale of Goods Act is quite cear on going through the reatiler to obtain redress.

Nonethless it should not have happened.

In all that I've said, when I say "BB", I also mean your device. When I refer to the company, I say RIM...since that's actually their name (there is no company named BlackBerry...only Research In Motion). In which case, then, RIM would actually be the super-set, rather than a sub-set I'd think...but no matter.

Good luck.
