Good day, i have a black berry Curve 8520. This is a fairly new phone, i have had it for about a week now and i have received numerous voice notes and i cannot play them. The device allows me to open them but they will not play. When i try to attempt to play them an error comes up and says "the media being played is of an unsupported format". i don’t know why this keeps coming up because most of the vice notes are coming from the same model phone. PLEASE HELP ME!!! Iv called tech support and went to my provider, i took the battery out with the phone on and off, updated the software which dint needed to be done, and nothing seems to be working. Iv voice notes is suppose to be a part of the blackberry feature why isn’t mine is not working. I even exchanged my old/new phone for a new one (the same model bb curve 8520). PLEASE HELP!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!! THAN YOU!!!!

After you recorded your voice note, did you hit the stop button? You must do this or there is no end to the note and thus nothing can be replayed. I, too, received the "the media being played is of an unsupported format" message wheen I had not hit the stop button. Once I did, all was well. I have been easily recoding voice notes since I learned this essential step. Not sure why Blackberry does not include it in the instructions. I don't think it is intuitive.

This was an issue for my Blackberry 9700 as well as the 9780. I called Blackberry and they said it was a known issue and could not be resolved. So, I did some trial and error and finally fixed the problem. To get Voice Notes to play again, do the following:
1, Record a new Voice Note and then hit the stop button.
2. This will bring you to a screen that shows several options, one of which is to save with a new name.
3, Save the Voice Note that you recorded using a name other than what is automatically generated, such as "TEST."
4. After you save the new file, it should play just fine. The previous files may not play, but anything you record after this will work.
