Can i get Blackberry Messenger 7.0 on my curve 9300?

I've read up on some topics but I'm still confused...
What exactly is OS? And if I have OS 6 would I be able to download the new bbm 7?
I currently have bbm v6.1.0.49 but when I go to upgrade to bbm 7.0 it says I can upgrade to bbm v6.2.0.44...no option to download bbm 7.0 but the description of it is at the bottom of the page...
What can I do???
Please use plain text.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

OS is the Operating System that your BB is running...you can check the version here:

  • KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone

When you look at apps, you must compare ALL compatibility requirements, which can include your BB model, your BB OS level, your country, and your carrier...all of those can impact if an app is compatible with your device or not. All of that information is listed on the AppWorld catalog page...for BBM, that's here:

But, you might want to read here about issues folks are having with the latest BBM...and choose wisely if it's worth the risk for you to update (if, that is, your device is compatible).

Good luck!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!

  1. Remove BBM
  2. Make 100% sure that your BB is running fine
  3. Re-install BBM fresh
  4. See what happens

You may want to insert between each step a proper Batt-Pull reboot.

Good luck and let us know!

Oh...sorry...I had no way to know what you'd already done 1,000 times...

Anyway, that might work...or it might not work. I have no way to tell you anything for sure. But I can tell you that doing nothing will guarantee an outcome.

Have you yet attempted Safe Mode? Have you tried a WIPE/OS reload? Any other things you've "already done" that you've yet to report to us?

Re: Is the new BBM compatible with bb OS 6?

Hmmm...so you've already done SAFE, you've already done the most drastic of WIPE/Reload combinations. In which case, all I can think of is this tedious, iterative, and very time consuming process:

  1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

Good luck and let us know!
