Can't bbm from new phone

I have a new phone but the same memory card and sim card but I can't bbm or email.   Blackberry Curve 8520 from South Africa, Vodacom is my service provider

Are you able to use BBM and email services on your previous device with that same SIM card . Have you used Device switch wizard with your new device ? What is your network status .Homescreen > Manage Connection > Service Status > BlackBerry Internet Service = ?. Let us know.

Has your service provider matched your new IMEI with your old sim card?  I would contact your service provider and see if they can fix it on their end.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes everything worked on the old phone.

The internet Service says Not Connected.

As I asked have you used switch device wizard using BlackBerry desktop software KB23677 . How to use switch device using BlackBerry Desktop Software .This process helps in restoring all datas ,emails,applications and also BBM contacts. Have you already set up your email account on your device  ? Before you Contact  Carrier you can try a few steps to see if that helps :

1- Register your Handheld .

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Wait till a Registration messages comes in your message box.

2-  Then perform a battery pull restart like this while the device is powered On remove your battery wait for a min. then reinsert it back.

 

If you are unable to recieve any registration message on your message box then you had to Contact your Carrier for further support to make sure that BIS is properly configured on your Account.

 

So try and let us know.

If you have talked to your service provider and everything is working on their end.  Then it has to be a problem with the phone its self.

Try an update or possibly a restore might do the trick?
