Hello,
I recently converted to a BlackBerry Curve (Sprint Branded) from a Palm Treo 755p.
So far I really like the Curve.
I have one item I haven't been able to solve.
The red LED blinks when a new email arrives as I want but it stops
blinking after some period of time (10 minutes ?).
I would like it to continue to blink until I actually open the Email
application but haven't found anywhere this is controllable.
Is my BB acting normal? Should my LED blink forever until I
open the Email application?
Thanks,
J

I have heard conflicting ideas on this, I have heard that ideally the light it supposed to blink red until the message is read, but my does not, like yours after awhile it will go back to green.
There is a third party app called bb alerts that will give you audible tone when you have a new message and it will continue to beep until you acknowledge the message. However it costs 12 or so dollars, but there is a free trial.

I don't think I want it to beep forever just blink the LED so I
know there is some email I haven't seen since the last time
I looked at the LED.
I usually lock my keyboard and I have to unlock it just to see if
any email has arrived. Sort if defeats the PUSH concept.
Thanks though.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
It sound like your device is acting normally,
You might wan't to check into a program called "bbaperts"
Which will allow you to extend led,s and alerts in general
Here is a link to a reliable site:

I downloaded and the BB Alerts demo.
To be honest it's not exactly intuitive.
Maybe it's my Palm "roots".
I have the phone pretty much the way I like it but just
want to make the LED blink longer that it currently does
but it looks like in BB Alerts
I have to go back to square one and configure stuff I
really don't know what it does.
Oh well. Thanks.

Give it alittle time and play with some of the settings, it will help you with the functions you
want to change,

OK I think I have the basic concept.
Is this the correct forum to ask about the "BB Alerts" application
and its configuration?
eg. In the BB Alerts Options (not profile options) there is one called
"Program Controls LED" with options of Both, None, LED, Trackball.
I figured out I needed to specify at least LED for it to keep the LED
flashing but what does the "Trackball" option do?

Sorry, I do not use the program. If Get a minute I will try to Google it, and provide an answer,
why don't you do so as well, and we can match note?
OK?

Duhhhh, stupid me. I tell people all the time "Google is your friend".
According to Google:
The trackball options can assign custom colors to BB devices that support
it eg. the Pearl. Unfortunately the Curve does not.
