Cannot access browser

Hello there, I am posting this message on behalf of my sister.

She cannot access her browser on the blackberry curve 8520, it comes up saying please contact your network provider. She is connected to wifi and I do not understand why it won't let her access it, so I thought I'd install the browser back to see if it has any effect.

So is there anyway someone could give me a blackberry browser link and a blackberry appworld link aswell because my sisters app world has vanished.

Thanks :Winkiss:

Re: Cannot access browser

Hello rsanto360 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

If your sister's data plan doesn't include browsing, this error may appear.

Have her go to Options>Advanced Options>Browser and ensure the default Browser is set to Mobile HotSpot. If she does subscribe to a data plan, have her contact her mobile carrier to ensure Browsing is included.

As for the issue with BlackBerry World, she can install it from www.blackbery.com/appworld

Let us know if this helps.

Re: Cannot access browser

Hi there,

And thanks for your comment, as I should've said before I have already had this phone, it did belong to my cousin but she unlocked it so it could work with another carrier. When I used this phone the browser worked perfectly and I do not understand why it doesn't work now.

My cousin did have a carrier with t-mobile, when it was given to me I used an orange sim card and it worked because it was unlocked, until then I gave it to my sister who uses a vodafone sim card to access the phone. I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with it. For some reason the browser just isn't working now which is a shame because it is a great phone.

Re: Cannot access browser

Also she cannot get the app world because it needs the internet to access the link. For some reason her app world has just vanished.

Thanks

Re: Cannot access browser

Was your device wiped before use? Under Options>Advanced Settings>TCP/IP can you make sure your carrier APN shows. then try connecting to the internet.

Re: Cannot access browser

Hi rsanto360,

Each carrier have different requirements on what data services are available without a data plan, using only Wi-Fi. Maybe your carrier will allow Browsing over Wi-Fi only where her carrier may not.

It is best she contact her carrier to see what data services she can use without an active BIS plan using only Wi-Fi.

Cheers!
