'Connector Specific Error' when completing synchronisation

When synchronising my address book on my Curve 8310 using Desktop Manager v4.6 on a Vista powered laptop I encounter the 'Connector Specific Error', and the synchronisation terminates without completing the job. I have tried reinstalling DM v4.6, using a different USB port and a new USB to BB connector - but no luck. Any ideas?
