Copy all contacts to sim card

I've got a new sim card but can't find a way to transfer ALL contacts from the phone to the card. I can copy them one by one but that will take forever. How do you copy them all at once?

Please use plain text.

Re: Copy all contacts to sim card

You can't copy FROM the BlackBerry to the SIM card all contacts at once.

The SIM card ONLY holds one number per name. So a BlackBerry contact with 3-4 phone phone numbers would require 3-4 copies.

If you are changing BlackBerry devices, the simplest thing is to your use Desktop Manager > Switch Device Wizard to move ALL data from the old device to the new.

What is your end need here?

Re: Copy all contacts to sim card

I've had a replacement sim card provided by my carrier and I want to have all contacts on the sim so when I use it in another phone I've still got all my contacts with me.

I've been able to copy all contacts with other phones so why can't Blackberry provide a method?

Please use plain text.

Re: Copy all contacts to sim card

Why? Don't know why.

Probably because as I explained above. The BlackBerry Address Book would create multiple duplicates on the SIM card, and then everyone would asking why it did that.

But, I really don't know why.

Re: Copy all contacts to sim card

Unbelievable !

Am I holding in my hand the latest state of the art Blackberry phone Or is this an antique? :robotsad:

More than a decade ago a simple mobile phone with 3 lines on screen can easily transfer contacts to sim card and vise versa,. Dictate it to save any new contacts on the sim card or phone book is merely a few clicks away.

astonishing that RIM has a product that missed out the simple things. att his rate we will have to climb mountains to look at clouds in time to come or if RIm has their ways. :Dots:

No, unbelievable that you don't understand the difference.

A SIM card is basically 256k memory. Very VERY limited.

A SIM card can ONLY hold a name and one phone number per record (no addresses, email address, etc.)

Your BlackBerry may have hundreds if not thousands of contacts, and each with more than one phone number, email address, job title, company, etc., blah blah

So, a simple COPY ALL to SIM card won't work (or will fail quickly).

The thing you'd be doing is complaining that the BlackBerry did not copy all of your phone numbers, and that's not the BlackBerry's fault, it's the limitation of the SIM card.

Now, TEN YEARS LATER, the SIM cards are not intended to be the "backup" device for your smartphone (any brand) Address Book.

Make sense?

Re: Copy all contacts to sim card

Here is the solution for Samsung phones (will probably work with other phones too)

Using BlackBerry Desktop Software - Sync your contacts to Windows Contacts

Using Samsung Kies - Sync Windows Contacts to phone

Fast and simple.
