Curve 8300 - Switching to SOS Mode (BB Newbie)

My BB keeps switching to the SOS mode if not touched for 20mins or so...

Is this normal? How do I get it to stop doing this? Because once in SOS mode I cannot receive or send any calls or sms...

Help Please!

SOS mode means three things :

  • or your carrier does not have coverage in your area and another carrier has coverage, but there is no roaming contract between the two
  • or your SIM card has been desactivated by your carrier
  • or your SIM card has a mechanical problem within your Blackberry

I suggest you to open your Blackberry, remove the SIM card (you don't need strength to do it !) and put it back and try again. If it doesn't work better, maybe the signal stregth of the GSM cellular antenna of your carrier in that location is not strong enough.
