Curve 8320 not recognized by Blackberry Desktop Software

I have a Blackberry Curve 8320 that I had to downgrade to from a Torch 9800 due to some horrific damage. The Curve is not being recognized by the Blackberrry Desktop Software Program (for PC) when connected directly by micro USB. Not sure what the problem is, but thought maybe I would have to revert to an older version of the Desktop Software program? Any suggestions or links? Also would like to know what the current o/s for the Curve 8320 is, and if anyone has a link on how to upgrade, if I am not running the current version. I am pretty novice at this stuff, so step by step directions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

 

Blackberry Curve 8320 (v4.5.0.124 (Platform 2.7.0.92)

 

Blackberry Desktop Software  (v. 7.1.0.32) on PC
