Is there a way for the phone to be in quiet mode and only let special numbers ring thru?

Yes you can set only certain calls to ring if you set exception profile in your BlackBerry. Follow the below steps -

1. Profiles
2. Advanced
3. click Menu
4. select New Exception
5. Exception: Name the profile
   
6. From: Choose the desired number from your phone book
7. Use Profile: Choose the profile that produce ringtones. You can also set custom tunes for those calls.
8. click Menu and select Save
9. Put the check mark beside the new exception profile

I had already tried that as it seemed logical but it dos not seem to work.

yeah, mine doesnt seem to work either. Ive followed the directions and its not working. am i doing the wrong set up? im trying to set a text message ringtone to a specific contact.
