When u get to the last stage of installing to the device, before u press 'finish' there was an option that said advanced. You need to press that and make sure both those checkboxes are ticked. that way it will remove the whole os and reload it..
What u did was just write over the top of existing software
This was poster by Bumblepie earlier in the post, did you do this?

Well according to Bumble they were supposed to be checked, although I do,t know if they were greyed out.
We can't wipe the device so. Basically the option that Bumble talked about says that unless they are checked the new install is loaded over the old OS. SO that says the actual device load takes place after you check finish.
At this point we can't go forward, we can only try it again, if you want.
Tell me your thoughts? Before you try anything OK?

You have two options left.
1) contact your carrier and ask to be escalated through to Research in Motion (if ur carrier is a support partner for them). The are the creators of blackberry. Because of the multistage load operation error you are getting, RIM will need to send u and walk u through a java load. Its a long and lengthy process.
2) Take device back to the shop and say you have exhausted all avenues of troubleshooting including help from RIM support staff via the net (which is us).
Bugger that it had to happen.. its a very common thing though

I'm back. I'll try going through the steps listed previously to see if it works this time.
In the mean time, is there any way to use the computer to access address book and messages?

Hello,
I'm back as well,
I would get whatever you need off the PC before you restore, that way the PC will be totally dedicated to reloading your OS.
Thanks,
Let me know how it goes!

Well I think it's a hardware issue then.
If under warranty, take it back,
If not either have it repair, or repair it yourself.
Let me know and I will send you a link to buy the part and replace it.
Thanks,
