Curve 8330 unable to sync due to USB issue

I am unable to sync my Curve 8330 with the desktop application.  The error indicates it can not see the device.  I have tried all of the USB ports.  I downloaded from the web version 4.5 (the Curve came with 4.3).  I took the USB cable back to Verizon (my carrier) thinking it was somehow broken.  I have my IT work on my system for 60 minutes, and sopke with tech support for Blackberry 3 times.

 

 

My system information is as follows:

 

Phone - Blackberry Curve 8330 (Verizon model # RBU21CW)

Computer - IBM T43 Laptop

System - Microsoft Windos XP (Professional), version 2002, service pack 2

Carrier - Verizon

 

Any help is more then appreciated....

Hi,

 

Thanks for the tip.  When I downloaded the drivers, it indicated I had a neweer version of the desktop software on my system and it would not complete the install.  I assume based upon the rev numbers that these drivers would be for the 4.5 rev, which is what I downloaded from the Blackberry site.  At this point I plan to uninstall the 4.5 version, and re-install the 4.3 version, and then see if those drivers will install, or is this a mistake and might there be another version of the drivers out there?

No I thin your good, With the latest version of Desktop software and drivers. You have verified the cable is good and used various USB ports. Please reboot the PC without the BB device attached, do a battery pull on the BB device WHILE the phone is on, and replace let it reset fully. Plug it in to the USB and restart desktop software.

Hi,

 

My system sees the Blackberry device.  It is still not able to see the device via the desktop manager, is states that the device is not connected to the system, yet the laptop sees the device?

 

ideas and help?

Reboot and retry, there is a BBdevice.mgr that does not end when the desktop software ends. I have found that I have to either kill the process in the task list or reboot. In my experience move this device doesn't recognize your BB it won't until killed and restarted.

Hello,

 

I turned off the computer, removed the battery from the Curve, the desktop still did not work.  I looked at the BB site for any other updates and or patches, nothing.  I un-installed the 4.5 desktop and re-installed the 4.5 desktop.  The core issue remains, the BB desktop does not see the device.

 

I then un-installed all the software, and went back to the Blackberry site, reloaded the 4.3 version, and then tried to load the USB drivers, this did not work (When I loaded the USB drivers the first time, there was an error message indicating the software was newer, and thus the driver would not load)

 

I have just now un-installed the 4.3 version, and re-installed the 4.5 version.  Tried to load the USB drivers, and got the same error about the software being a newer version, and thus it would not load.

 

Wow, this is a good deal of work.  Any other ideas?

Just to check, do you have a media card in your BB and does windows see the memory card in th Blackberry as a removable device?

I'm sorry to drag on, but I'm tying to go logically.

How did verizon check the usb cable?

Have you tried switching USB ports?
