Re: Curve 8520 stuck on a "white screen of death"

Hi, After trying various methods, I decided to try Disk Utility. It was the easiest of all my other attempts at rectifying this issue, and so far it has worked perfectly.

If you 're on WinXP or lower, you click the Start button > Run.

What type of PC operating system are you on?

Re: Curve 8520 stuck on a "white screen of death"

im confused my blackberry is just white screen with a red light but i followed the instructions & when it gets to the application loader it says contact your wireless service provider or system administrator and then on the instructions it says if this message comes up then go to http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads but when i go on that it says "oops google chrome could not find it" and i tried it with internet explorer too... is there any other address i may use ???

Re: Curve 8520 stuck on a "white screen of death"

OK, forget about the blackberryfaq.com link, that is down, don't use.

Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.

See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.

First download the OS file from this link, click on the 8520 model
https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=1141938BA2C2B13F5505D7C424EBAE5F

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." (You might have another Vendor.xml file hiding on your computer. Open Windows Explorer and under the Organize button (on Windows 7, there are similar tools for Vista and XP) click on "Folder and search options." Under the View tab, make sure that your computer is set to show hidden folders and files. Once you've done this, search your C:\ drive for "Vendor.xml".)
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
