Hello.  I have my messages icon and email iccon on my home screen.

whenever i receive an email, i also get a notification in my messages folder.  how do i disable this so that each goes to its appropriate folder/box without notifying the other.

What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.x.xxx"
What is yours?

plus, i get a message when i get a missed call as well.

if this isnt normal i would like to change it... unless its the norm then i can deal with it.

im new to blackberry.

For the messages integration, open your Messages folder > Menu key > Options > Inbox settings.

Now, there do you have the option to set which email accounts feed to your main messages folder?

Some newer devices and OS releases have this option. If yours does not, then all email will come to the main folder.
