Ok, so I had this problem and had to figgure it out myself.
It seems that this is (or should be) a known issue with the 9300.
Upon every second boot-up, the backlight decides not to funcion.
You don't need to take out your battery and spin around 5 times to make it work again, just simply reboot it. (if you hold alt + shift (the one on the right)+ delete, kinda like on a computer, it will reboot itself).
You reboot - it turns off, reboot again, it suddenly works again, repeat.
Very anoying, but a workaround that works well.
HURRAY for experimentaion!
Also handy if you want to make sure that it will turn off and stay off
