Curve 9370 wont turn on

I  have my phone for about 30 month, And recently taught I lost it for a few days but found it back 2 days after, charged it up worked fine, then it died a day after , but this time when I put it to charge all I got was a double blinking red light from the indicator. And when I plug it into my PC  I get 5 led flashed - one (pause) 3 quick flashes (pause ) one  And then repeats this , I tried using desktop And it recognizes it as a curve 9370  but it says unable to connect or make a connection And in loader connection:USB-PIN: unknown And it still hasn't found it yet.

Re: Curve 9370 wont turn on

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):

  1. With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
  2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Wait 15 minutes
  5. Insert the battery
  6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does

This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:

  1. Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
  2. Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens

The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Curve 9370 wont turn on

thank you, I have did the steps above and to no avail. On the charger the it blinks twice then pause and twice again repeating through out the whole process. I have realized the battery is not the problem cause it works and charges on my friends phone and when u use his battery the double light returns. Only when I pug it into the PC do I get the 5 blink patter I said above. At this point I am so annoyed I spent the whole day looking for a solution for this problem. Any more sugestions ?

Re: Curve 9370 wont turn on

From what you describe, you have indeed narrowed down the problem to your BB itself...exactly what within the BB, however, is a challenge to determine, especially if it's hardware (internet distance diagnosis of such things is quite difficult). But, these articles may be of help:

Further, any chance of moisture intrusion into the BB case?

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Curve 9370 wont turn on

What, exactly, did you install to your PC? For those processes to work best, you need to install, to your PC, two things: both the Desktop Software along with a BB OS package. Further, if you use a BB OS package from a carrier other than the one your BB was originally manufactured for, then you must properly delete the copies of VENDOR.XML after you install the BB OS package to your PC. If you don't do these things, then the BB OS package may be completely ignored by the Desktop Software, forcing it to do other things to try and identify your BB and find the proper OS package for it.

From what you said it reported ("Checking for blackberry device for softwere updates"), it sounds like the Desktop Software is for some reason not properly recognizing the BB OS package you installed to your PC, if you installed one at all.

Let us know.
