Hi there,

Would like to upgrade my Curve 9380 with latest 7.1 OS.

Currently reside in France with Orange as my supplier. Do you know if it's available and if so how do i download it.

Hello,

The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):

1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages

2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

• http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

• http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML (there will be at least one, perhaps 2)

5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC

Don't forget to backup.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Hello, I followed the instructions in your email and installed the 7.1 OS on my Desktop PC.Later I connected my

BB 9380 to my PC expecting it to offer me to upgrade but it did not happen !!

The OS on my phone is still 7.0 .

Can you think of anything that I could have missed ?

There were no BB OS packages to uninstall from my system and I got rid of 1 vendor.xml file i found.

Any ideas pls.

Welcome to the Community

You might be unable to upgrade  because of any Vendor .XML files, there may be two or three VENDOR. XML files for newer OS packages.If possible change your Folder Option to Show all hidden files ,drives on your PC and then try searching those vendoe.xml files on your PC .

After deleting those files you will able to see or get the new OS on your device.

Yes, there was another vendor.xml file in one hard to get place.

This URL will help Finding vendor files

Once i got the 2nd file and deleted i t, then connected my phone ...Bam.. there was the dialog to update and all went without a hitch. Phone is working Great now and I got the FM Radio feature too.

So thanks once again.

                       Sorry you cannot do the Above mentioned  on your Mac ,On Mac you are limited to your Carrier sanctioned OS ,If your Carrier has released OS7.1 for your device Model then you can use BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac or please refer to sdgardne post , there you will find the KB related to Mac Computer.
