Curve won't sync calender with Outlook 2003

I just got a new computer, installed BB desktop 4.7, updated by device with new applications, etc.  My calender won't sync, but I've noticed it did sync a few appointments, just not all.  I now see the problem is that there are two calenders - device calender and then the calender associated with my email account.  Most appts are associated with device calender and only a few are on my email calender.  Not sure how that happened but how do I transfer all my appointments to the email associated calender so that they all sync?   The new appts I'm adding now are automatically going to the email calender but all the old (700+ entries) are not.  HELP!

Re: Curve won't sync calender with Outlook 2003

open DTM, go to backup and restore-advanced

on the right side select calendar all, click the CLEAR button at the bottom

on your device, goto opions-advanced options-default services

select your device calendar as default for calendar.

then try to resync

Re: Curve won't sync calender with Outlook 2003

My calender isn't synced with Outlook so if I clear all calenders it erases my device calender which is all I have.  I did it, but thankfully had just backed it up so am trying to restore.  The calender on my device is full of appts, my outlook calender is virtually empty.  I need to get the device calender as the default calender so it will sync with outlook...

Re: Curve won't sync calender with Outlook 2003

if you did the backup and cleared the calendar then the device should have NOTHING. then goto options- advanced options- default services, select whatever is beside calendar and change it to DEVICE DEFAULT. Pull battery. opwn the backup in advanced in DTM and send just the calendar back over. this will go to your device default calendar.

then sync to your outlook

Re: Curve won't sync calender with Outlook 2003

In options / advanced options / default svcs, the calender (CICAL) shows my email address but doesn't give me an option to change it to the device calender. I tried menu, etc. no choice.  In the calender function, in the menu / show calender / gives me options to "show" one or the other or both but not a choice to delete one. ???

Re: Curve won't sync calendar with Outlook 2003

Hi,

You do not want to use the default device calendar to store your calendar entries.

They will not sync with Oulook through the desktop manager.

"When a CICAL service book is not present on a BlackBerry smartphone, all Calendar entries are stored on the BlackBerry smartphone in the base system calendar. Calendar entries stored in the base system calendar are only recognized by the Calendar application on the BlackBerry smartphone. Therefore, any external application (backup and restore tool, Intellisync®, PocketMac for BlackBerry smartphones, etc.) will not recognize these Calendar entries"

Here is how to fix the entries so you have one calendar:

The default calendar is the device calendar, Items synced to it will not sync correctly to the desktop.

1) Delete your email addresses from the device.

2) Use the link below to clear the calendar database.

3) Recreate the email address that you want to be associated with your main calendar.

4) Go to default services and make sure that your email address for the main calendar is specified

in the CICAL and CMIME entries. Save it.

5) In desktop manager, specify a one way sync from Outlook to Device for the calendar only.

6) Once successful, check the main email calendar and make sure all records are there.

7) Run the synch for each category separately until you have all data correct on the BB.

8) Recreate the second email address.

9) Send service books.

10)The BB now has all calendar entries in the correct email main calendar, with no records in another.

11)On the PC, delete the intellisync folder, and reconfigure the setup wizard for normal 2 way sync.

Thanks,

Re: Curve won't sync calendar with Outlook 2003

I followed your directions until it said add the other email address....I only have one email address on the device - that is all I have ever had.  Right now, when I sync with outlook it won't sync my calender entries that are device, therefore I have no backup of those calender entries.  So when I go into BB Desktop and clear the calender, it wipes my 700+ calender entries that aren't stored anywhere else (except for backup / restore in BB Desktop).  Then if I sync with outlook, I only have the handful of calender entries that were entered using my email address from when I first realized this problem a few weeks ago.  There is no way to get the 700+ entries back on my device then...?:smileysad:

We can fix this, I think you missed a step.

It's 13:25pm where I am, can you allocate some time at say 18:00 or 19:00 to work on this?

We need to do this together, OK?

Let me know,

Sure, that would be great.  I am on EDT so it's nearly 3pm here now.  Do you need my phone number or what is the best way?  I appreciate all your help...

Re: Curve won't sync calendar with Outlook 2003

Hi,

This is a good description if how the calendar and databases work.

(Okay, sometimes how they break too!)

Let me know when you want to start.

Thanks,
