Yea, I wasn't sure. I am not positive you can turn off the red asterisk notification. Let me ask a friend. I like mine on, so I've never looked to try to disable that.

Thank you, my aunt sent me a message and it wasnt there but then it started showin again! I know iphones and androids are able to do it so I was hopin wit a BB you could too wit regards to all apps but preferrably whatsapp! I appreciate your time and hopin it is possible, thank you

I don't have a solution but I just wanted to say that it's too bad you want to disable the asterisk notification.  RIM is known for its push notifications technology and to want to disable it is kinda sad. 

However, I'm not here to judge; if you want it gone, you want it gone.  I just wanted to say my two cents' worth.

I have no problem wit it I would just like to disable it for whatsapp, I have many people on there and always notified so was wonderin if there was a way that I could not be notified and rather launch the app and then see that I have a message.

One workaround solution would be for you to simply move your whatsapp icon to another panel or lower on your homescreen so that you don't see it immediately and have to open the other panel or folder to see it and therefore know you have new messages.
