Email - conflict between PC and phone

If my phone is the first to see a new email then the email is set as read on the server so that when my PC sees the email it does not highlight it as new. However if the PC sees the new email first then both the PC and the phone announce the new email.

My email is set up as IMAP on virginmedia mail, which uses Google mail.

I am sure that previously both the phone and PC would announce new emails, no matter which one saw it first.

Re: Email - conflict between PC and phone

I believe this is working as designed. Sync from the handset to the server is instant (hence why when you read a mail on your phone it is marked as read on the server and your computer.). Sync from the server over read status takes longer,
