Re: Email

Yes, I'm having the exact same issue.  I can receive my Hotmail emails instantly (they actually come into the Blackberry before they come into my Windows Live mail account on my laptop).  However, my two other email accounts (with my web hosting company) are delayed about 30 minutes or so - or sometimes just not received at all.

Any ideas as to why there might be this much of a delay?  My web host told me to check my setting on the Blackberry to have it check more frequently for messages but I can't seem to find that option.

Re: Email

Hi,

There is no option for delivery on the BB, it's pushed mail. I'm sitting here at my desk and have four Email accounts. My Comcast is about ten minutes behind, My Gmail is almost Instantaneous. For local carriers they are the ones that have a problem with allowing Blackberry to

to constantly request resources on there servers. As far as getting partial emails on either device, make sure that the option on your inbox at the provider is set to leave a copy of the message on the server. If not, the email will be deleted as soon as they are sent.

Thanks!

Re: Email

[ Edited ]

Yep - I have it set to leave messages on my server for 5 days and to only delete if I delete.  :smileywink:

The only other thing I could do is set up a forwarding on my web host server and have all the messages forwarded directly to my vzw.blackberry.net address but then they won't come through my Windows Live Mail at all.  Does anyone see a downside to that?  It just makes me nervous that everything would reside on the BB and I wouldn't have a copy on the laptop of something I really needed.

Suggestions?

ETA:  Here is what my web host sent me:

Here is a record of the times that Blackberry logged in to retrieve
email from your account since 3pm (Pacific time):

15:00:31
15:03:36

15:26:17

15:28:58

15:32:07

15:51:37

15:54:43

16:06:07

I'm on the East Coast but it shouldn't matter, right?

Re: Email

Hi, I can understand your logic, but I would use a different approach.

Get a FREE Google email account.

You can add at least ten other address's that will be routed and fetched by Google. It gets better! You can set it up so that when John emails you at your office account, you can reply, through Gmail, with your business address!

I can;t remember how much size they give your Gmail inbox account to save, but I've had one for at least 6 years, and I use it as my archive for everything, and I'm not even a fourth full.

But Wait..It gets even better! You can sync your outlook calendar with Gcalendar (free with your email address) then you install Googlemobile sync on the BB, You stay synced with your calendar and can make entries on the road

and sync to Outlook, You have all off your email address's routed faster, and you can reply to each account from the account it was delivered to. You set messages to stay on the server forever, so you don't lose anything. I just went through Hurricane Ike, I couldn't always get my emails, but they were all on the Google server.

One other part. If you are "God Forbid" :smileyhappy:  without your Blackberry, and away from the office, you can use any internet

workstation or PC and login to your account and check your calendar and emails.

At this point I have to mention that I DO NOT  work for Google :smileyhappy:  Having that setup for smartphone and desktops has really helped a lot of people out on the forums.

Thanks, I'll step off this soapbox and be on my way!

Re: Email

Well, I took your advice and opened a free google email account.  I was a little confused at first (I had to get the whole mail forwarding concept in my head) but I set up my two business emails to channel through google.  It works!  I left my hotmail accounts alone since they were coming in just fine.  So, I actually got rid of two icons on my BB (I have google forwarding both accounts to my .vzw.blackberry.net account) and it works like a charm!

Thanks again for your help!  I didn't realize google was as sophisticated as it is until I logged on there and saw it for myself.  Heck, with as many problems as I have with Hotmail, I may eventually transfer everything to google.  But, let's take it one step at a time!  :smileywink:

Re: Email

Hi, I read your posts and I see you know just about everything about BB. So I have a question: The only email that is registered on my bb is the gmail, since this Monday I haven't received any email at all. Also since that same day I'm not reveiving any facebook notifications on BB + the battery drains in about 4-6 hours. I got this phone in June, so don't think it's already too old or something. I tried pulling out the battery and rebooting BB, resending the service books.....

Any other suggestions please??? Would really appreciate it

Thanks
